Honor and Folly
stay shoppe cook host

Designed with a mission to immerse guests in both the neighborhood and a locally derived creative environment, the b&b is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans - much of which is also for sale (in person or via the online shop).

Upstairs from Slows, one of the city's busiest restaurants (full disclosure: owned by my brother-in-law), and on the same block as an artisan coffee shop and craft cocktail bar, the apartment drops you smack into the middle of the oldest neighborhood in Detroit. Corktown is charming, walkable and full of great restaurants, bars and historic attractions, including the workers row houses, the site of old Tiger Stadium and Michigan Central Station - the abandoned (much photographed) train station designed by the same architects as New York's Grand Central. The last train left the station in 1988, and although scrappers have ripped out most of the marble (and whatever else was left), it's still a stunningly beautiful Beaux-Arts behemoth. From the apartment, it's less than a 15-minute walk to downtown Detroit.

There are two bedrooms for a capacity of four people, with additional sleeping arrangements for kids. Whether you occupy one or two of the bedrooms, you have access to the entire apartment. There may be the occasional cooking class or shop event in the main room during your stay. If this is the case, you will know ahead of time about the event and will have the opportunity to participate. All events end at a reasonable hour.

One bedroom: $165/night
Both bedrooms: $215/night

We don't offer a home cooked breakfast around a big table every morning, but we encourage you to head down to Astro - the artisanal coffee shop that acts as the neighborhood equivalent. Hang out with your neighbors; get an egg sandwich, house-made granola or pastry and the best cup of coffee in the city. Or for an extra charge, we can fill the fridge with local breakfast treats.
